Ladies and gentlemen, 

Welcome to Display Innovation CHINA 2017/ Beijing Summit!

Since 2015, the growth led by mobile internet has slowed down. The overall growth rate of display devices has also dropped from double digits to single digit, the mainstream a-Si TFT LCD has experienced negative growth, and the alarm of overcapacity has sounded. Our industry is exactly at a new crossroad and where should we go?

In fact, there is only one way, that is, continuous innovation: technological innovation can promote application innovation, while application innovation can drive technological innovation. The fourth industrial revolution is coming, and artificial intelligence, IoT and big data are leading a new wave of growth. In the IoT era, all things are connected intelligently, which is a new opportunity for the display industry. To turn this opportunity into reality, it is necessary for all colleagues in the global industry to cooperate more openly on the technical and application sides, and jointly create the IoT value of “connected chip, display software and hardware” to create a new ecology.  

We should inject new supply at a higher level into the market and create new demand at a higher level through continuous innovation and close cooperation.

For example, I advocated “8K+5G” in the past two years. Our display industry should actively join hands with the partners in communication, content, application and other fields to promote 8K, popularize 4K, replace 2K and make good use of 5G, which I call “8425 Action Plan”. If this plan can be vigorously promoted, we will have the opportunity to contribute to the next round of market growth and reduce the industry damage caused by overcapacity. This requires our colleagues in the industry and our partners in all relevant industries to join hands, and requires the government, industry, university, research and use to work closely together. I’d like to take this opportunity to call on all of you to join hands to promote the “8425 Action Plan”.

The theme of this Summit is “Seizing the Trends to Achieve Future Success”. The trends have both challenges and opportunities, and the future depends on innovation and cooperation! I hope that the industry elites and friends from all walks of life present at this meeting will speak out freely, communicate and work together to seek common development. I wish the “Display Innovation CHINA 2017/ Beijing Summit” a complete success!

The display industry is ushering in a new era and gestating huge business opportunities.

The key words such as “IoT”, “AI” and “5G”, which indicate the coming of the new era, have also drawn much attention in recent years.

The rapid development of IoT has expanded the application range of display products. In the past, display products seemed to only meet the needs of watching TV programs, while nowadays, the display technology, combining advanced camera technology and cloud data processing platform, can realize and derive intelligent access control, telemedicine and other image display applications that can change our life style. If AI technology is combined with part of “thinking” functions, the accuracy of image display applications will be further improved, and the images that were previously indistinguishable only by naked eyes will be presented one by one.

The development of 5G communication has a far-reaching impact on vehicle display applications. The high-speed data transmission at 10Gbps per second can upload the images recorded by cameras instantly without damage, which can provide guarantee for the development of assisted driving and even automatic driving technologies that are related to the life safety of drivers and passengers. It is believed that with the popularization of 5G network, the 360° image application that can process a large amount of image data simultaneously will become the next window.

With the change of image data form and life style, display technologies are also continuously innovating and changing. We also have very high expectations for VR/AR, transparent display, flexible display, projection display and other new technologies.

The “Display Innovation CHINA 2017/ Beijing Summit” co-organized by Nikkei BP and CODA will be held in Beijing soon. The theme of the meeting in this year is “Cooperation, Innovation and Development—Seizing the Trends to Achieve Future Success”.

It is very important to seize the opportunity of success at the dawn of the new era, actively promote horizontal cooperation among industry partners, stimulate innovation inspiration and seek common development. Summary

The “Display Innovation CHINA 2017/ Beijing Summit (referred to as DIC2017)” co-organized by CODA and Nikkei BP will be grandly held in Beijing National Convention Center on October 16^th-17^th, 2017.

With the purport of “Cooperation, Innovation and Development” and the theme of “Seizing the Trends to Achieve Future Success”, this Summit will provide a high-level and high-standard exchange platform for China’s display industry, which will effectively promote win-win cooperation between upstream and downstream enterprises. Meanwhile, CODA will play a role of bridge of the Association to create a more diverse exchange platform for enterprises in the industry and promote healthy and orderly development of China’s display industry.

From 2010 to 2016, we have successfully gone through seven years. The meeting has been supported by National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, Economic and Information Commission, etc., and also actively participated by upstream and downstream enterprises in the whole industry. Up to now, this Summit is considered as the benchmark of industry events with the largest industry scale and the most comprehensive fields, and is even a bright beacon of the display industry.

In 2016, the investment in China’s new display industry chain was about RMB 375 billion, and both the investment amount and quantity of LCD and OLED production lines created new high. In 2017, China’s display industry still develops rapidly, and the competition among different display technologies becomes more and more obvious, which is full of challenges and opportunities for the whole industry.

2017 is a crucial year for the global display industry. The Display Innovation CHINA 2017/ Beijing Summit will spend two days discussing the global development strategy of the display industry and the latest development trends of industry chain through keynote speech and technical speech. Business leaders, academic leaders and media professionals from all over the world will gather at the Summit again, and the number of attendees is expected to continue to exceed 1,600. Meanwhile, the latest display technologies and products will also be exhibited.
