Welcome to Display Innovation CHINA 2016/ Beijing Summit!

At the beginning of the 1990s, the industrialization and application fields of TFT-LCD were expanded continuously, which set off an unprecedented wave of innovative development of information and communication equipment, and accelerated the arrival of the Internet and IoT era. This is the commendable 25 years for the global display industry. At present, the display industry is facing two key challenges: I. How the innovation of display technology can further satisfy and even promote the development of emerging industries such as IoT, big data and artificial intelligence; II. Whether the application innovation of display products can be further extended to various sub-sectors and fields to truly make the display everywhere.

This requires all enterprises, universities, research institutes, government agencies and other partners in the ecological chains such as materials, equipment, devices and terminal applications of the global display industry to sincerely join hands to open up innovation, overcome technical and application difficulties in all links of ecological chains, and jointly create a new future for the display industry!

The theme of this Summit is “Innovating Display Technology and Leading Future Life”. Representatives from the enterprises, domestic and foreign scientific research and consulting institutions involving materials, equipment, devices and application terminals in the global display industry, and top-notch experts in the industry will be invited to attend lectures and technology exhibitions, and share cutting-edge information and insights. It’s expected that the global cooperation in display industry will be further expanded and deepened through exchanges, communications and sharing of the partners at home and abroad!

The [Display Innovation CHINA 2016/ Beijing Summit] co-organized by Nikkei BP and CODA will be held in Beijing in November this year. I think the key words of this Summit will be [Innovation] and [Future].

Since the FPD International Summit was co-founded in China in 2010, the display industry has made great progress in China for more than six years. There is no doubt that China will become the largest manufacturing base of the global display industry in the near future. By combining China’s strong manufacturing capability and Japan’s advanced technologies, with the popularization of large-size LCD TVs, smart phones and other products, display technology, as a transmission window of information, is everywhere and changes people’s daily life style at any time.

The innovation of display technology has just begun to lead the change of people’s life style. With the continuous realization of new display technology and new idea, the innovation of future life style is rapidly opening the second chapter. For example, in the future, we may not need a flat panel display to project images on the objects around us or even the air. With the development of such innovative technologies, the transmission of information will not be limited to existing carriers such as TVs and mobile phones, and the residences and communities around us will all become the windows of information dissemination.

In addition, the image display mode will also undergo earth-shaking changes. For example, for image reproduction that still cannot be realized at present, with the continuous evolution of photography and image processing technology, multi-view and independent view can be freely chosen by users. During the live broadcast of sports event, users can freely switch between the images from the perspective of overlooking and the perspective of athletes. In the automobile driving process, new applications for improving the safety all round, etc. can be realized.

With the continuous industrialization of innovative technologies, the original business model and energy-saving system will also change accordingly. Therefore, the Summit in this year will also conduct in-depth discussion and communication centering on the theme that how the innovation of display technology changes the future life style.

At present, the situation of the global display industry and market situation have undergone profound changes, and the display industry in Mainland China has maintained a good development momentum. At the same time, the development of new display industry has entered a critical period, and how to consolidate the panel development achievements and enhance innovative applications has become the key to achieve sustainable development.
