Welcome to Display Innovation CHINA 2015/ Beijing Summit!

At present, the global economic growth is weak, the display market is also fatigued and weak, and the display industry is facing new challenges. These challenges are to innovate technologies, create applications and expand new market space, which need the joint efforts of upstream and downstream colleagues in the industry, as well as win-win cooperation of the colleagues in the industry and its application industry. Let’s join hands to make innovations and grow.

Where is the new technology? In recent years, the development of display industry has not deviated from “Wangs Law” and many new technologies have emerged in the display field. No matter what kind of new technology, whether it has vitality or not still depends on the experience of final customers. I put forward the “innovative direction of 5P1H display products” before, that is, Picture (picture quality), Power (power saving), Panel as system and service, Pilot of fashion, Price (the best price performance ratio) and Health. I think a good new technology should be able to support the progress of display products in the direction of “5P1H”.

Where is the new application? In the past, there were five traditional market segments, i.e., mobile phone, tablet computer, notebook computer, display and TV. Now, there are many new application fields such as vehicle-mounted, medical, industrial control, public, wearable, transparent and mirror display. In the IoT era, display devices are essential components of IoT terminal equipment. In this sense, IoT is a broader new market application space for display devices, and the display industry should also make due contributions to promoting the progress and development of IoT.

The theme of this Summit is “Showing Future Technology and Displaying Wonderful Horizon”. Industry experts will share the latest development information of display technology and show the latest progress of display application. I hope that through the exchanges, communications and sharing of domestic and foreign partners, global cooperation in the display industry will be further deepened, and joint innovation and growth will be achieved!

The self-driving car sends you to the destination smoothly with just one instruction; the house has been clean and tidy when you go back home; the satisfaction at work and productivity of a factory are improved simultaneously—such a world does not just exist in fantasy. With the continuous improvement of “IoT (Internet of Things)” technology, everything is connected with the network and a brand-new world gradually emerges before our eyes, a world that meets the needs of everyone.

In the process of interconnection and development with the IoT, what’s indispensable is the interface for communication between people and things. The most important one is the display device. From the perspective of the display industry, the use of display device is not only limited to computers and smart phones, but will gradually extend to all objects around us. There is no doubt that various display devices will emerge constantly.

Since 2010, Nikkei BP and CODA have jointly held several sessions of “FPD International CHINA/ Beijing Summit”. This year, this Summit will continue with “Display Innovation CHINA 2015/ Beijing Summit”. In recent years, China’s display industry has made great progress, and China will become the largest display panel industry base in the world. By combining China’s strong productivity with Japan’s cutting-edge technologies, the display panel will break through the existing form to reach a brand-new realm and subvert the existing life style.

What is the key to the development of display panel? One is to develop new uses. The theme of the Summit 2015 is “Showing Future Technology and Displaying Wonderful Horizon”. Only when the display application is expanded increasingly can the “wonderful horizon” be presented. I believe that the wonderful sharing in this grand meeting will further strengthen the innovative development capability of the display industry and bring China’s display industry into a new development stage.

Summary

In recent years, with the strong support of national policies, China’s FPD industry has fought bravely and achieved fruitful results. By the first half of 2015, there have been 30 panel production lines that have been announced to build in the Mainland China with the industrial scale up to RMB 200 billion. The global market share has increased to over 17% and the self-sufficiency rate of local LCD TV panels has exceeded 50%. It is estimated that by 2016, the total investment of China’s display industry will exceed RMB 400 billion! While the scale is increasing, the localization degree of materials and equipment in China’s display industry is also improved increasingly, the market application is further expanded, the international cooperation is further deepened, the technological innovation capability is further strengthened, and China’s display industry has reached a new development stage.

In order to strengthen industrial and technical exchanges at home and abroad, deepen global cooperation, and promote the joint development of FPD industry in China and the world, CODA continuously joins hands with Nikkei BP to hold the Display Innovation CHINA 2015/ Beijing Summit in CAMIC International Convention Center on October 13^th-14^th, 2015.

The purport of this event is “Cooperation, Innovation and Development”, and the theme of Summit 2015 is “Showing Future Technology and Displaying Wonderful Horizon”. This grand meeting will face the world to build an exchange platform for global display technology, display equipment and materials, and display application, share the latest information on the development of China’s display industry, and share the latest management and technical information in the display field from all over the world, so as to enhance the innovative development capability of China’s display industry, strengthen the foundation of China’s electronic information industry, and promote the transformation and upgrading of China’s electronic information industry.

In October, the golden autumn, Beijing is expected to bring together industry resources of more than 1,000 persons, including the giants in the global panel industry, internationally renowned material and equipment companies and terminal application enterprises, well-known scientific research institutions, colleges and universities, as well as financial, securities and evaluation institutions, etc. in the summit to jointly discuss the development trend of the industry in the future and offer advice and suggestions for the sustainable and healthy development of China’s display industry.
