In our life, the biggest thing that has happened so far is the emergence and popularization of the Internet. The integration of Internet and its information and communication technology with the technologies in various professional fields, and with all walks of life and human life in all aspects is profoundly changing human society and its industrial ecology. The human is entering an unprecedented era of transformational change, and one of the important driving forces behind it is the progress of display technology.

With the advent of the Internet era, the application of semiconductor display technology is ushering in the fifth application wave after the four application waves of notebook computers, displays, televisions, mobile phones and tablet computers. Vehicle-mounted, medical, wearable, industrial control and public display will become the main force of the 5^th display application wave. The new display devices such as high-performance a-Si TFT-LCD, LTPS TFT-LCD, Oxide TFT-LCD, LTPS AMOLED, Oxide AMOLED, etc. will keep growing rapidly. Led by new technologies, new markets and new applications, the global display industry still has broad development prospects.

In order to strengthen business and technical exchanges between domestic and foreign industries, deepen global cooperation, and promote the further development of FPD industry in China and the world, CODA and Nikkei BP have jointly held the “FPD International CHINA/ Beijing Summit” since 2010. The theme of this Summit this year is New Technologies, New Markets and New Applications. We’re convinced that this professional exchange platform will promote global cooperation and innovative development of the display industry, and provide new opportunities for all circles involving industry, university and research.

People living in the modern society can get rid of the constraints of time and distance, and can observe and master the events and information happening thousands of miles away at any time, and display technology is just the key to achieve breakthroughs.

The display industry is changing our life. Television allows us to know what is happening at every corner of the world in real time, while smart phones and tablet computers make animated images in the daily life everywhere.

Nowadays, the display industry is ushering in a new round of technological revolution. For example, the technological innovation that liberates display products from the constraint of shape has promoted the application range of display technology to a higher level. In addition, wearable technology, image reflection technology, suspended image technology and other various new display technologies are being developed constantly.

Now, by combining Japan’s cutting-edge technology with China’s powerful manufacturing capacity and broad market, the innovation of display technology is bringing us a brand-new life style. As the source power of technological innovation, Japan has advantages in various core technologies such as raw materials, manufacturing equipment, etc., while China undoubtedly has a huge market and powerful production capacity.

The “FPD International CHINA/ Beijing Summit” jointly held with CODA has also ushered in the 5^th year. This year, we will take “New Technologies, New Markets and New Applications” as the theme to welcome everyone to participate in the grand meeting with a brand-new attitude of “Display Innovation CHINA 2014/ Beijing Summit”.

In recent years, with the strong support of national policies, China’s FPD industry has fought bravely and achieved fruitful results. By the first half of 2014, there have been 16 panel production lines for mass production in the Mainland China with the industrial scale up to RMB 107.1 billion and year-on-year growth of 44.6%. The global market share has increased to over 13% and the self-sufficiency rate of local LCD TV panels has exceeded 35%. It is estimated that by 2016, the total investment of China’s display industry will exceed RMB 400 billion! While the scale is increasing, the localization degree of materials and equipment in China’s display industry is also improved increasingly, the market application is further expanded, the international cooperation is further deepened, the technological innovation capability is further strengthened, and China’s display industry has reached a new development stage.

In order to strengthen industrial and technical exchanges at home and abroad, deepen global cooperation, and promote the joint development of FPD industry in China and the world, CODA continuously joins hands with Nikkei BP to hold the Display Innovation CHINA 2014/ Beijing Summit in Beijing Liaoning International Hotel on October 14^th-15^th, 2014.

The purport of this event is “Cooperation, Innovation and Development”, and the theme of Summit 2014 is “New Technologies, New Markets and New Applications”. This grand meeting will convey relevant information of China’s display industry to the world and share the latest management and technical information from all over the world, so as to accelerate the marketization and internationalization of China’s display industry and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
