Cooperation, innovation and development are eternal themes in the process of global economic growth, and are also the only way for FPD industry to develop continuously.

In 2012, the output value of China’s FPD industry had exceeded RMB 70 billion, and it showed a sound and rapid development momentum in the first half of 2013. Besides, as the localization degree of materials and equipment has been continuously improved, the market application has been continuously expanded, the international cooperation has been further deepened, the technological innovation capability has been further strengthened and the global share of shipment has been continuously improved, China’s FPD industry has reached a new development stage. However, since we have started late and China is a big country in production and consumption of electronic information products, domestic FPD production capacity still cannot meet the domestic demand and the self-sufficiency rate is less than 30%.

In order to strengthen the business and technical exchanges at home and abroad, deepen global cooperation and promote the further development of FPD industry in China and the world, CODA and Nikkei BP jointly hold the “FPD International CHINA 2013/ Beijing Summit”. The theme of this Summit is “Cooperation, Innovation and Development: Industry Chain Competitiveness and Industrial Upgrading”. It is expected that this international forum will promote global exchange, cooperation and innovative development of FPD industry.

The electronic information industry has ushered in a brand-new era. Driven by technology development and market expansion, it has shifted from the era of computers to the era of tablet terminals and smart phones. In May 2013, IDC, an American research company, published such a prediction: the global shipment of tablet terminals will surpass that of notebook computers for the first time in 2013, and in 2015, two years later, the sales volume of tablet terminals will surpass the shipment of all computers, including desktops.

Tablet terminals and smart phones have changed our life style and working mode to a large extent. We don’t need to work or browse web pages in the places with a computer. More and more people start to carry a lot of mobile terminals, who can contact friends online, enjoy animation or music, and work regardless of the time and place.

People begin to carry a variety of mobile terminals, which is a great development opportunity for FPD industry. To seize this opportunity, technological change is necessary. Only by realizing high-definition image, touch function and high energy saving simultaneously can we open this channel. And the source of such technological change is components, materials and equipment. The integration of industry chains comprised of these components and equipment, from display screens to terminal products, around the world makes us look forward to the further development of FPD industry.

In this environment, we will continuously cooperate with CODA to jointly hold the 4^th FPD International CHINA/ Beijing Summit. The topic of the event this year is Cooperation, Innovation and Development—Industry Chain Competitiveness and Industrial Upgrading. We believe that the discussions in this Summit will promote the exchange of FPD professionals around the world, the construction of industry chain and the growth of the industry.
